Vulvar Biopsy

The vulva is the external portion of the female genitals and includes the vaginal opening, labia majora and labia minor (outer and inner lips), and clitoris. Changes in the vulva could suggest cancer. To evaluate changes in the vulva, your doctor may recommend a vulvar biopsy. The abnormal area is identified and all or part of the lesion is removed and sent to the laboratory for examination.
