  • Important Note

    Hand Washing is important before starting to express breast milk.

The one day pump set available in the hospital for Symphony breast pump does not need cleaning prior to the first use as it is provided in a sterile state.

Important Note

The attachments must be cleaned once expression is completed.

The pump machine should be cleaned between patients by using available cleaning wipes.

Important

Use drinking water quality for cleaning

Note

Tube does not need cleaning after each use unless there is milk in the tube

Disassembly

Separate all parts prior to cleaning

Remove white valve membrane from breast shield connector

Cleaning after each use

Clean parts immediately after each use to avoid milk residue and to prevent growth of bacteria

Rinse breast shield, connector and white valve membrane in clear water

Hand wash parts thoroughly with warm soapy water and rinse in clear water

Dry with clean towel or paper towel

Storing

Place clean parts in a new zip lock bag

Caution

The one-day pump set (disposable set) can be used for 24 hours. It should not be steam sterilized or autoclaved.

Reusable breast pump set can be used for 24 hours. It should be sent to CSSD for sterilization and a new set should be used
