Pelvic lymphadenectomy

Pelvic lymphadenectomy or pelvic lymph node dissection is the surgical removal of lymph nodes from the pelvis. It is carried out to investigate the presence of cancer. The procedure may be performed through an open incision or using a laparoscopic technique. The excised lymph nodes are sent to a laboratory for evaluation by a pathologist.
