Hysterectomy (abdominal, vaginal and laparoscopic)

Hysterectomy is the surgical removal of the uterus. It may also include the removal of the cervix, ovaries, fallopian tubes and cervix. The procedure may be performed to treat uterine fibroids, severe endometriosis, cancer, uterine prolapse and persistent vaginal bleeding. The procedure may be performed through an abdominal incision, a few keyhole incisions or through a single small incision just above the vagina.
